Description

At the time of the band’s split, the quintet from Angers were preparing the recording of their third album with a pre-prod recorded in their premises. It’s these sessions, mixed and mastered, that the band offer us as a testimony, this one under the name Where Things Were.

We shouldn’t think that ‘Where Things Were’ is just a rough draft of an album. We all know how uncompromising the Maine-beat five are with their sound, and that the recording conditions were practically the same as for ‘Teaching Not to Pray’, their first 4-title album, and A Shiny Day, their first album with Camille Belin at the helm. You’ll just have to imagine what might have been less raw and perhaps less spontaneous in the studio.

But let’s not speculate, and let’s enjoy the band at their most inspired, faithful to their three-guitar pop-punk. This album is like a flying cobblestone, with ten tracks that are violent, airy and full of promise.

There’s no doubt that each of them will go on to new projects.
It’s not a farewell, just a goodbye.
