Description

ENGL : Parisian, Henchman plays a rock under high tension, based on Fugazian snarl and guitars that go in loops, noise swerves and punk energy. The clique has been releasing sound since August 2011 and its inaugural Wolfpack EP, at the end of this year Pictures on the wall, armed with its ten powerful attacks, reminds us that in the genre, Henchman does not present itself as an outsider, but rather as a confirmed entity. A different game, a leaden and then completely unbridled opening, gallops off and shows us that in terms of speed of execution, the trio is not left behind. It screams, the riff is raw. Large action, second blast of the Henchman furnace, turbine also with spirit. Slightly less fast, it allows to avoid making only trace. The rendering is compact, collected but never at a loss for words. The quality lurks, behind shots fed with rhythmic in force and vocals raised. Skinned alive and its beautiful scratches completes the job without ever failing, we are there in an intense restraint.

Further Cathodic guilt, vivacious, maintains the course and a notable level. Deathbound follows, jerky, carried by riffs that once again dezealous. Pictures on the wall avoids the pitfall of “all the same”, changes gear without being a kook. Gamma ray, an almost rock’n’roll cavalcade in its guitarized inflammations, balances a real intensity. The opus is sent in one go, without omitting the least piece. Pictures on the wall, the eponymous title, is also vigorous and without too many detours. Henchman didn’t come here to pick poppies, and you can hear it. His songs are short, efficient and never boring. Cesspool goes straight, screams and destroys. It is with anger, on vindictive tones, that the disc finds its base. King on the hill does not deviate, it sticks to solid punk-hardcore tunes that do not hesitate to break the tempo on occasion. We note, there too, the mark of the guitars.

Everything passed very quickly, it is already the hour of the farewells. It is then Dive which on three minutes -an almost extended format thus, for Henchman- stings us of a perforating torpedo, home made, which tears off everything and finishes in the fury. It is confirmed, it was anyway audible and obvious: Pictures on the wall validates Henchman’s sonic impact, his brilliance and his skill in the making of wild bombs. We can imagine without forcing what can give, on stage, such a register and we take good note, to finish, of the fact that the object is released on a bunch of labels which also deserve a “small” visit.
