Description
Big’n is a noise-rock band formed in 1990 in the Chicago suburb of Joliet. After a series of confidential 45s, Big’n recorded two albums with Steve Albini, Cutthroat and Discipline Through Sound, both released by Skin Graft Records. The band then appeared on the famous double 45 of AC/DC covers with Shellac, Brise-Glace and U.S. Maple, also released by Skin Graft. Big’n went their separate ways in 1997, before resuming their activity in 2011 with the release of a compilation of previously unreleased tracks, as well as a new 10” on the Africantape label. 2013 saw the arrival of Fred Popolo (Haymarket Riot), who replaced Mike Chartrand on bass. In May 2018, the band reunites with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio and records Knife of Sin, which in 6 tracks reveals an even darker and more powerful Big’n. This rigorously Albini-esque sounding record, highly recommended for fans of Jesus Lizard, Slint, Dazzling Killmen, Tortoise and AC/DC comes out in a unique aluminum packaging.
