No Matter How Long The Line Is At The Cafeteria, There’s Always A Seat! is the final album by the Big Boys, the legendary Texas punk icons, released in 1985. The Big Boys emerged from Austin’s punk scene in the late 1970s. The band was led by Randy “Biscuit” Turner, with Tim Kerr on guitar, Chris Gates on bass, and a rotating lineup of drummers — the most notable being Rey Washam (of Scratch Acid). Unlike much of the hardcore scene at the time, they weren’t afraid to slow things down in favor of some good white-boy skate funk. Beyond their funky side, the band also ventured into early post-punk territory, reminiscent of their contemporaries The Minutemen. Thanks to their appearances on Thrasher magazine’s first “skate comps,” the Big Boys became hugely popular among the new wave of 1980s skate punks.
